Updated over 3 weeks ago

In the app, a Standby Driver is a driver who is lower in scheduling priority within Dynamic Scheduler. Standby Drivers are typically part-time drivers who are assigned routes only after full-time drivers have been scheduled.

Key Points about Standby Drivers

  • Lower priority in scheduling: Full-time drivers are scheduled first, and Standby Drivers are only considered after those assignments are complete.

  • Part-time flexibility: Standby Drivers are often part-time team members who provide additional coverage without being guaranteed regular shifts.

  • Operational backup: They give AFPs more flexibility to cover fluctuations in workload or unexpected scheduling needs.

When to Use Standby Drivers

  • To supplement your core full-time roster during high-volume periods

  • To maintain a pool of drivers who can step in as needed

  • To reduce the risk of uncovered routes while keeping scheduling efficient
